Welcome to Lit By Lantern

Lit by Lantern is a quieter room inside Moon Moth Magic—a place for reflection, meaning-making, and story when the usual answers don’t quite fit.

Sometimes what we need is not another productivity system or another push forward. Sometimes we need space to listen closely to what an experience, transition, loss, question, or creative season is asking of us.

Lit by Lantern uses writing, conversation, close attention, and reflective practices to help make that space.

You do not need to arrive with a polished story or a clear conclusion. You only need somewhere to begin.

What Lit By Lantern Is

Lit by Lantern is a reflective, narrative-centered offering for people who want to understand an experience more deeply through story.

The work may use guided writing, conversation, close reading, music or sound, and other creative prompts to help you notice patterns, find language for what feels difficult to name, and make meaning without forcing a tidy conclusion.

The goal is not to produce a perfect piece of writing. The writing is a tool for attention.

Sometimes the result is clarity. Sometimes it is a new question. Sometimes it is simply having enough space to hear yourself more clearly.

How This Work is Different

Lit by Lantern is less about fixing and more about noticing.

Unlike editing or creative coaching, the goal is not necessarily to improve a manuscript, solve a craft problem, or build a productivity plan. The focus is on the story underneath the story: what an experience means, what keeps returning, what has been difficult to name, and what becomes clearer when you slow down long enough to pay attention.

The work is guided, but not prescriptive. There is room for uncertainty, contradiction, and unfinished understanding.

You do not have to turn every experience into a lesson. Sometimes meaning comes from simply being witnessed, reflected on, and given language.

Who It’s For

Lit by Lantern may be a good fit if you are:

  • moving through a transition, loss, identity shift, or period of uncertainty

  • feeling disconnected from your creative work or from your own sense of meaning

  • carrying an experience you want to understand rather than simply “get over”

  • interested in reflective writing, story, music, or other creative ways of making sense of what you’re living through

  • looking for guided space that is thoughtful and structured without feeling clinical

You do not need to consider yourself a writer. You do not need a finished story. You only need something you want to look at more closely.

My Approach

My approach to Lit by Lantern is shaped by two kinds of close attention: nursing and writing.

Both have taught me that people are more than the problem in front of them, and that listening well often matters before trying to make meaning too quickly.

In Lit by Lantern, I use reflective questions, writing, narrative techniques, and creative prompts to help you notice what is present without forcing a particular interpretation or outcome.

I may offer structure, observations, or questions, but you remain the authority on your own experience. The goal is not for me to tell you what your story means. It is to help create enough light for you to see more of it yourself.

What Lit By Lantern is Not

Lit by Lantern is reflective and creative support.

It is not therapy, counseling, medical care, mental health treatment, or crisis support.

I bring my experience in nursing, writing, and narrative practice to this work, but Lit by Lantern does not diagnose, treat, or provide medical or mental health advice.

Some of the subjects people bring into reflective work can be emotionally significant. You are always welcome to pause, redirect, decline a prompt, or choose not to discuss something.

If what you need falls outside the scope of Lit by Lantern, I may encourage you to seek support from an appropriate licensed professional or other resource instead.

Begin Your Journey

You do not need to know exactly what kind of support you need before you reach out.

Start with what you’re carrying, what you’re trying to understand, or what kind of space you wish you had right now.

From there, we can decide whether Lit by Lantern is the right fit and what kind of next step makes sense.
